What is a Veterinary Ophthalmology Specialist?

Just as in human medicine, veterinary medical specialists are becoming a valuable resource for pet owners. ACVO diplomats treat animals with the same types of eye diseases that affect humans such as glaucoma, cataracts, corneal ulcers, dry eyes, eye lid defects and retinal disease. ACVO members work with your primary care veterinarians to provide the best eye care for your pet.

A few words about us

We have a wonderful group of specialists in ophthalmology and dermatology ready to work with you, your family member and your primary care veterinarian regardless of the magnitude of the case.

We currently see patients from the Florida Keys to Homestead, Miami and beyond. From the East coast of Florida all the way to the West coast. We even have the fortunate opportunity to work with some great patients from Illinois, Georgia, and Colorado, yet we do not work out of very large hospitals. What we lack in size, we make up in latest technology, individual care and respect for the patient and client.

Thanks for visiting and we look forward to serving you in any capacity!

Dr. Tucci is amazing.

She removed my dog's eye ulcer on the same day we had our consultation appointment. The Homestead/Miami area is lucky to have such a compassionate and caring doc!

Kate D.

Great vet.

Dr. Tucci goes out of her way for pets and owners. A wonderful person and vet. We have 15 years experience with her.

Gil and Mary R.

Thankful for Dr. Tucci and her team.

We brought in our dog Arthur to Dr. Tucci after searching online. Arthur went blind due to being diabetic and old. It was killing us seeing our loved pet not being able to see us, walking into doors and not being able to see his food. The doctor explained our options and we decided to operate him. The surgery was a success and Arthur's vision came back.

Diana A.

Dr. Tucci has taken great care of my Boston terrier and saved his vision.

I highly recommend going to her for any eye problems your pet may have. She works on all animals.

Jose P.

Meet our Team

Dr. Teresa R. Tucci grew up in Western Pennsylvania, north of Pittsburgh and her interest in ophthalmology started early as her brother lost vision in an eye early in life. Her interest lead her through undergraduate studies, the United States Air Force, veterinary school and finally an ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois. Her specialized training at The Comparative Ophthalmology Service at the University of Illinois included comprehensive eye care for large and small animal patients, as well as exotics. Dr Tucci is boarded in ophthalmology and is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmology (ACVO).

Meet our Team

Aura joined the VSI team in 2005. She started with us as a receptionist and has worked her way up to veterinary technician.

"I love working here because the animals are the priority.

Dr. Tucci's love of animals and her endless care is contagious and the importance that she places on caring for the patients is what sparked my desire to learn more and become a Technician. To be a part of the VSI team it is mandatory to care. We try very hard every day to give our clients the best service and all our patients the best care.

What impressed me the most when I started and still makes me proud is how important it is for Dr. Tucci to educate the clients, she takes the time needed to make sure the owners understand what is the problem, how we can treat it and what are the options available.

I feel lucky to work in a place where the most important thing is making pet's lives better and my favorite thing is seeing how pets that walk in blind walk out out of our office with vision again."
